Ya hace más de año y medio que hago aplicaciones para Facebook pero nunca me había puesto a jugar para integrar mi sitio a FB. De hecho, ya hace algún tiempo que podía haber comenzado a hacer cosas utilizando XFBML y mucho más cuando salió el Facebook Connect, que permite utilizar la misma cuenta de facebook dentro de otros sitios. Lo bueno de esto es que es básicamente utilizar tu cuenta de facebook para identificarte, por lo que tu red social viaja con vos. Y lo mejor es que el sitio que te identifica no es el encargado de revisar tu clave (es decir, no le das tu contraseña al sitio), si no que FB es el encargado de todo el proceso de autenticación. Es prácticamente lo mismo que agregar cualquier otra aplicación.

Ahorita estoy probando con un plugin para Wordpress que precisamente permite autenticación con FB Connect. Hasta ahora sé que me reconoce y que puedo enviar shares de mis post a FB. Se supone que los comentarios también deberían de viajar a FB, aunque eso no lo he probado. Estaría muy agradecido si juegan un rato con él par ver qué tal funciona.

It’s been a long time since I wrote anything on my page. Since then, some have asked me to start writing again, but unfortunately I hadn’t found the time to make all the changes and updates necessary to reactivate my site. This time has come…
As old-timers may note, I changed the image of the site a bit. I liked the previous design, but I thought it needed some updating. Well, this is the result. To the right you’ll find a poll to see how you like it.
Another decision I made, besides writing on it at least 3 or 4 times a week, is that I will also write here about technology (or at least my current projects). Sorry for those or you who are not interested in that part, but you can always filter it using the categories to the right.
Finally, I’ll write later a bit about what’s happened in the last few months. For now, I have a few details that need taken care of.

Since I want this site to appeal to a broader (non-technical) audience, I just put up a new blog where I’ll talk a bit more about technology, computers, programming and the like. I’ll probably be updating that blog more often than this one.

There’s just one catch: because of time constraints I’ll probably only write posts in Spanish. Sorry folks!

Those of you who read my blog during the day may have noticed a couple of changes. Most of them are small and hardly noticeable, but the big changes occurred behind the scenes in order to make my site readable in both English and Spanish. Clicking on the flag below or next to the entry title will display that message (and only that message) in the selected language. On the other hand, clicking on one of the flags on the top-right corner of the site will change the language permanently for the rest of the browsing session.

All of the static pages are already translated, but due to time constraints I will not translate past blog entries. New entries, however, will (hopefully) be available in both languages.

Al fin tuve un poco de tiempo para subir mis fotos de las vacaciones de acción de gracias en la casa de Matt, la demostración de la silla de ruedas en Philadelphia, mi viaje a Nueva York y fotos varias de nuestra casa.

Al fin tuve un poco de tiempo para publicar las fotos que he tomado durante este verano. Estas incluyen fotos en Lehigh, mi viaje a El Salvador, y nuestro viaje a Antigua Guatemala con Xochilt. Trataré de publicar mis fotos de Philadelphia ésta semana.

Ya hace un par de dias encontré un poco de tiempo para terminar de integrar la galería de imágenes con el sistema de bitácoras. Aún quedan un par de pequeños detalles que arreglar, pero ya todas las fotos (más de 2,100) del viejo sitio están disponibles en la Galería de Imágenes. También escribí la mayoría de mi página académica y de mi clase de RoboCup.

Después de haberme tomado un poco de tiempo tratando de integrar el sistema de bitácoras con la galería de imágenes, decidí escribir al menos un par de lineas para estrenar mi nuevo sitio. Lunarpages el segundo proveedor web que he probado, y definitivamente es mucho mejor que el primero (cuyo nombre no quiero mencionar -pero es Globat.com). Dentro de poco cambiaré el dominio de la primera página (humberto-sermeno.com) para que apunte a ésta.

Piratasv.net aún necesita un poco de trabajo. Debo terminar de integrar la apariencia de la galería de imágenes con WordPress (el programa de bitácoras), pero ese es un pequeño detalle comparado con tener que migrar los albumes desde mi viejo sitio (bea64.homelinux.net), asi que ésto último tomará un poco de tiempo. También debo tomarme un poco de tiempo para crear las páginas con mi información personal, que me servirá también para al fin crear mi página académica en los servidores de Lehigh (que en estos momentos no es siquiera posible accesar.) Lastimosamente estoy en época de exámenes finales, así que todo esto tendrá que esperar un poco.
