Thursday night was a bit strange around here. I was working on my computer when, suddenly, the power went out. The weird part was that my room’s light was still on, so my first impression was that one of the circuit breakers had been activated. However, all of them were working.
The bad thing about this, besides not having electricity on half of my house -which included the kitchen, laundry room, office and one of the bedrooms- is that the water pump was in the affected area, so we had no running water at all! Not to mention that my fridge had to be relocated to the living room.
I spent most of Friday trying to figure out what was wrong with the electrical grid in the house, without finding anything that would point to the problem. It wasn’t until I checked the meter outside my house that I saw one of the power cables disconnected. How did it get like that? who knows, but since I couldn’t find a way to make sure I wasn’t grounded when I touched the meter and cables, I opted to call the power company. Fortunately, after they reconnected the cable, a few tests showed that everything worked again and no hardware was damaged by the blackout.
